Private Notes with Second Screen Tool (iOS)

One of the features of the Second Screen tool allows you to present your screen, but not the device controls. This allows you to take Notes or Annotations without revealing them to your audience.

To use the Second Screen tool, first you must connect your iOS device to another screen and turn on Airplay Mirroring.

  • You can connect either wirelessly or with a physical cable.
  • You must be using one of the following iOS devices: iPhone 4S (or later), iPad 2 (or later), iPad mini, or iPod touch (5th generation)
  • See directions for using Airplay Mirroring, here.

Once you are connected and projecting onto a screen, select the 2nd Screen button from the bottom menu bar in the app.

  • Note: If you tap the 2nd Screen button before turning on Airplay Mirroring, the contents of the resulting window are different than described here. (Scroll to end of this lesson, for details)

Select Second Screen.

Now you can project the items you are viewing on your device without revealing the Notes or controls.
